About Podgorica

Podgorica is  capital of Montenegro and also the largest city in the country with a population of about 200,000 people. The city is located in the middle of Montenegro.

The Podgorica area has been inhabited since Illyrian and Roman times, and today’s Podgorica settlements were firmly established during the Ottoman Empire. rule. Podgorica was reorganized into Montenegro in 1878, when the city began to become more European.

During World War II, Nazi and Allied bombs destroyed many historic buildings from the Ottoman and Montenegrin Empire in Podgorica, and the city was reborn as the Montenegrin capital of Socialist Yugoslavia (SFRY).

The city was then rebuilt and enlarged in the typical manner of the Eastern Group countries, so it is basically a modern planned city and is by no means a major tourist destination. Although it is not a typical European pastry, this city is definitely worth a visit, as it combines an interesting fusion of old and new, coffee culture and nightlife, and a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere. The coastal towns and mountain resorts of Montenegro are only an hour’s drive from the city, making this an ideal starting point for a day trip anywhere in Montenegro.

If you don’t want to travel by bus, a private transfer from Belgrade airport “Nikola Tesla” in Serbia is a good option. Belgrade and Podgorica are  7 hours of driving away from each other. Belgrade Chauffeur is at your disposal for a comfortable transfer from Belgrade to Podgorica at a flat rate without ride-sharing with others.
